| In 1997, Jack In The Green performed
at the very first Philly Scrapple Fest. This was a full day of peace, love
and scrapple. As required of all the bands playing that day, we had to
come up with a Scrapple Song. As you can imagine, it was Q to the rescue.
The Scrapple
Song
(Sung to the tune
of “Nancy Whiskey”)
When I went out to Dublin city,
We went drinking on the town.
Next morn I tried to get me
breakfast,
But alas no scrapple could be
found.
Chorus
Scrapple, Scrapple, Philly Scrapple
Scrapple from old Philly town
Scrapple, Scrapple, Philly Scrapple
Helps you keep your breakfast
down
I took the tubes to London Castle,
There I met Miss Becky Brown
She grinned and said she would
oblige me.
For some scrapple, about two
pounds.
Chorus
Then I crossed the English Channel,
There I saved the King of France.
He declared he would reward
me,
So I thought I’d take a chance.
Chorus
I cooked up a pan of Philly scrapple
In fact I cooked up quite a
few.
The people loved the way it
tasted.
So the King of France they overthrew
Chorus
They told me to make them some
more scrapple.
But all I had was one more pound.
When I finally got deported.
There was no more scrapple to
be found.
Chorus
So gather round and pay attention,
And hear the morale of my tale.
When you cross the great Atlantic,
Bring lots of scrapple when
you sail.
Chorus
